Welcome to TJ Flutes
A place to explore, refine, and discover your sound
Welcome to the world of TJ Flutes, a space created for flute players at every stage, from first notes to professional performance.
Whether you are beginning your journey, developing your technique, or refining an established voice, this website is designed to support that process. Here, you’ll find more than just instruments. You’ll discover insight into flutes, piccolos, alto and bass flutes, along with guidance on tone, response, materials, and how each element shapes the way you play. Because understanding the instrument is part of becoming a musician.
Built on craft and musical understanding
Since 1984, TJ Flutes has grown from a small English workshop into a globally respected specialist flute brand.
From our technical workshops in Lenham, just outside London, our team of musicians and specialist technicians continue to design and refine instruments with a clear purpose: to create flutes that respond naturally, feel balanced, and allow the player to develop with confidence.
Today, our multi-award-winning range of flutes, piccolos, alto flutes, and bass flutes is played worldwide, trusted not only for craftsmanship, but for how the instruments behave in real musical settings.
A resource, not just a catalogue
This website is designed as a guide, a place to explore the full TJ flute range, understand the differences between materials such as silver, wood, and copper alloy, and discover how each instrument supports your musical development.
You’ll find:
- Detailed information across the full flute family
- Insight into headjoint design and tonal character
- Guidance to help you choose the right instrument for your playing
Everything here is intended to help you make a more informed, more personal decision.
Try before you choose
We believe that choosing a flute should always be a hands-on experience.
For this reason, TJ Flutes are available exclusively around the world through specialist flute retailers. We encourage every player to test instruments in person, because the right flute is not just heard, but felt.
Your nearest flute specialist will be able to guide you through the range and help you find the instrument that responds most naturally to you.
