Flute headjoints for the discerning musician
Trevor James flutes are proud to have more headjoint options than any student to conservatory flute manufacturer today.
1 - CT headjoint
Available in silver-plated and also 925 silver, this headjoint has a traditional flat lip plate style with an embouchure hole cut giving excellent tonal colour options.
2 - CS headjoint
Available in silver-plated and 925 silver, the shoulders of the lip plate have been raised to facilitate a very easy and wide open lower register with enhanced dynamic possibilities.
3 - FMG headjoint
Handmade in England and available in 925 silver tube (plus 9k and 14k lip / riser options), this headjoint is for the more advanced flute player wanting a wide array of tonal colours and flexibility.
4. TJ Wooden lip and riser headjoint
Handmade in England, the wooden lip and riser option is only available on the 925 silver head Cantabile and 925 silver tube Virtuoso models. This headjoint offers a completely different feel and tonal characteristic compared to the usual 925 silver and is well suited to all musical genres, especially baroque pieces. A handmade Flutemakers Guild of London wooden lip and riser option is also available for the Recital models.
The new TJ 'Voce' Headjoint
A stunning new 925 silver TJ 'Voce' headjoint that has with the power, dynamic flexibility and wide array of tonal colour options in all registers expected in a handmade headjoint. A one-piece cast lip/riser (rather than the usual flute headjoint making process of soldering a separate lip-plate to a riser). The casting process whilst complicated and time consuming gives very fine accuracy of finish and also gives more mass to the headjoint due to the extra silver used in the casting process.
(only available on TJ Cantabile and Virtuoso models). These new headjoints on our silver head and silver body TJ Cantabile and Virtuoso model flutes are being rolled out worldwide during 2018. Please contact your distributor (click here) to check if they are now available in your area to test.
